I Just Have To Share...

My Mom sent me this email and I loved it so I thought I'd share with you all:

For all of us who feel only the deepest love and affection for the way computers have enhanced our lives, read on.
At a recent computer expo (COMDEX),Bill Gates reportedly compared the computer industry with the auto industry and stated,
If GM had kept up with technology like the computer industry has, we would all be driving $25.00 cars that got 1,000 miles to the gallon.'

In response to Bill's comments, General Motors issued a press release stating:

If GM had developed technology like Microsoft, we would all be driving cars with the following characteristics (and I just love this part ):

1. For no reason whatsoever, your car would crash......... Twice a day.

2. Every time they repainted the lines in the road, you would have to buy a new car.

3. Occasionally your car would die on the freeway for no reason. You would have to pull to the side of the road, close all of the windows, shut off the car, restart it, and reopen the windows before you could continue. For some reason you would simply accept this.

4. Occasionally, executing a maneuver such as a left turn would cause your car to shut down and refuse to restart, in which case you would have to reinstall the engine.

5. Macintosh would make a car that was powered by the sun, was reliable, five times as fast and twice as easy to drive - but would run on only five percent of the roads.

6. The oil, water temperature, and alternator warning lig hts would all be replaced by a single 'This Car Has Performed An Illegal Operation' warning light.

I love the next one!!!

7. The airbag system would ask 'Are you sure?' before deploying.

8. Occasionally, for no reason whatsoever, your car would lock you out and refuse to let you in until you simultaneously lifted the door handle, turned the key and grabbed hold of the radio antenna (just in case you don't get this one - 'control/alt/delete).

9. Every time a new car was introduced car buyers would have to learn how to drive all over again because none of the controls would operate in the same manner as the old car.

10. You'd have to press the 'Start' button to turn the engine off.

PS - I'd like to add that when all else fails, you could call 'customer service' in some foreign country and be instructed in some foreign language how to fix your car yourself!!!!

Please share this with your friends who love - but sometimes hate - their computer!

I'm Tired!

I've been working about 15 hrs a day, just trying to stay on top of things, and now I'm tired.

I try to get orders out the day of the order or the next day, but I'm slowing down a little! When there are multiple orders, I just can't make it all in one day!

I guess I do it that way because I'm not a patient person, and I hate waiting on things, so I try not to make anybody else wait.

Live and learn.

Speaking of which:

I'm an idiot! Today I burned myself, twice! "You're not an idiot" you say, but wait, you haven't heard the whole story! I was soldering a ring, and holding it with my tweezers. I touched the palm of my hand with the hot end! OUCH! But it wasn't real bad, just a quick touch. But then, a couple of minutes later, I did the EXACT SAME THING IN THE EXACT SAME SPOT! That time it really hurt, and left a perfect impression of the end of the tweezers on my hand. So see, I am an idiot! It still hurts, and that was early this morning!

Well, I guess I better get back to work. I've been sitting here long enough!

I hope you all had a wonderful Hump Day~

Blogging Really Does Help!

It really is a good advertising tool! I sold some jewelry today, because a friend of Barrie's read about me on her blog! I think that's awesome. Sometimes it seems like I'm rambling on just to hear myself. LOL

I don't have any new jewelry to show you, because I've been so busy making the old stuff! Now I don't feel like I'm just playing with jewelry making, it has a real purpose. To brighten somebody else's day. I hope!

I hope you are all happy and healthy and having fun! Fun is important!~

Another Busy Day

This is a sterling bangle bracelet with copper washers. Everybody needs to laugh out loud sometimes! It's good for the soul.
This is a copper ring with a sterling ball that a customer asked me to make. I really like this one!
I soldered a brass leaf charm on one of my soft square bands, and it turned out really pretty. Reminds me of Fall, and I love leaves.
Some more of the same leaves, only this time they're earrings!
These are a set of spinning rings that a customer order for wedding rings. I had a hard time with these because she wanted them really narrow, but I finally worked it out.

I just thought I'd show you some of my new things. These are not what I've been working on the past few days, though! I've been as busy as the proverbial cat, and I'm sooooo glad! Business had gotten really slow, but seems to be picking up now. Maybe people are starting their Christmas shopping early.

I still have 4 Iron Man bracelets to finish, but there's no huge rush on them. I'll finish those up this weekend. I hope!

Update on offshore: They thought they found the rig on the bottom, but now they're not sure that's it. They are still looking for it, but it doesn't look like they'll find it. If someone else finds it and mans it, they get to keep it! Isn't that stupid! I didn't know Finder's Keepers really worked, but apparently it does on the ocean!

Hubby has made himself sick worrying about his job. I don't know why, he knows he can go to work for another company if he has to. He's just a worrier and I'm not. I learned a long time ago that it does NO good to worry! Things work out or they don't, that's just how it is.

I hope you are all doing well and having a great Friday!~

Snowed Under...

Business has finally picked up again, and now I'm having a time keeping up! Not complaining though, I'm glad!

Things had gotten so slow, I was worried. I guess it really was back to school and such, that slowed it down.

Update on the oilrig: They think they found it about 800 ft from where it was, on the bottom of the ocean! It was in 300ft of water, and the waves must have snapped the legs. Chad has made himself sick worrying about his job. He's on a different rig this week, and the people are okay, but the crane is NOT! It caught on fire twice the first day they were out there, then it wouldn't stop booming down and they had to run it into the legs to keep it from falling off the platform. He's used to that new, fancy rig he was on. It was insured for $53 million dollars!!! No wonder oil is so expensive!

Well, I guess I better get to work. I have several things to make today, and this isn't getting it done!

Later~

Some 'splaining to do...

I'm finally able to stop in and let everybody know I'm still alive!

We had a lot of flooding and power outages in the surrounding areas during Gustav, but I live in the hills so we were spared. There were people still without power when Ike hit. But he wasn't so bad here!

My husband came home from offshore a week early due to Gustav, then was home for his regular 2 weeks off, so I haven't been able to blog. He hates it when I spend any time on the computer!

The company he works for called today and told him that the rig he's been on for 7 years is gone! Ike took it out! They can't even find it, so it's probably at the bottom of the ocean! So now we don't know when he'll be working. He's just filling in for a week on another rig now. We won't know if he's gong to have a steady job, or not! I guess I better get busy trying to sell some jewelry!

The last month has been kinda slow with sales, but the last couple of days it has picked up. A LOT! I've been really busy getting custom orders out, but it's done. Tomorrow I'll start on the rest.

I've really been missing all my blogging friends, so I'm off to visit everybody now!~
