College!

I feel like my life is spinning out of control right now!

My youngest starts to college in a couple of weeks, and it is horribly expensive! Tuition and room and board were mostly paid for by the scholarship and Tops, but the supplies and books are ridiculous.

I bought him a new Macbook for graduation because I knew he needed it for college. Now I've had to buy an $1800 Adobe Creative Suite 4 for it! Everyone in the Tech School of Art has to have that program plus a $200 printer. At least it came with a free Wacom Intuos Tablet.

Today we spent a chunk on art supplies for class, and now we have to stock his dorm room. Thank God most of this stuff is a one time deal! I couldn't do this every 3 months!

If you have small children, and you expect them to go to college, start saving up for it NOW! It is not cheap!

Tammy,
I knowwww what you mean. But, let me tell you~you can do it. We sent our dd to the UofH. She lived at home, went to college full time and worked downtown. She paid for her books and her car insurance. Let me tell you this....she is a self-sufficent ADULT right now because of it. We paid her tuition in 3 payments per semister, and that was a God-send. She had some scholorship $$ but just at the beginning.
When he graduates you will be so proud!!! Hang in there~you can do it.

The books are crazy expensive. We used to be able to sell our books back, but it was just a small portion of what we paid for them, even if we bought used books. I got a job on campus through work study. Only 10 hours a week, but I was finished by 5:00 every day and no weekends so I still had time to study. Babies grow up don't they??

Tammy, I hear you on the expensive! I remember how expensive textbooks were in uni - thank God for a scholarship that helped me get through that, but I worked the entire time through undergrad and grad school to offset costs (and rent, and expenses so my parents wouldn't need to worry etc.)

It's crazy how much textbooks cost these days! I got to a point where I just didn't buy them, I borrowed my friends' at the beginning of the semester and read 'em through first - then went to the library if I needed them!
